MDTP Courses

Ten credits are required for the major. All students are required to take two semesters of the 1 credit course, Current Issues in Microbiology (MMI 810/Micro 811). These 2 credits may be used for either the major or the minor, with the approval of the thesis committee. At least three courses must come from the following list of core courses. Some typical courses taken by MDTP students in the past are also listed below.

The maximum credit load for a full-time student in the fall and spring semesters is 12. Generally, students take the required courses (see below), plus 2 core courses and fill the remaining credit load to 12 with the addition of research credits (990), which are individual numbers assigned to specific faculty. These numbers are assigned on a semester basis and will be provided to you by the program office.
