80 faculty labs in a variety of topical
research focus areas.

in being based in two core departments -
Bacteriology and Medical
Microbiology & Immunology - while also truly
interdepartmental with a majority of faculty trainers from
other departments across campus. The former feature provides
a sense of departmental home for graduate students, while
the latter provides expansive opportunities.

area group meetings, and invited speaker seminars than any
one individual can possibly attend (but too many opportunities
are better than too few...).
